About This Trail

Stretching 44 miles from Hattiesburg to Prentiss, the Longleaf Trace follows a converted railroad corridor through the heart of Mississippi’s Piney Woods. The paved surface welcomes walkers, runners, and cyclists of all abilities, while the forested corridor provides shade and scenic interest throughout. Historic communities along the route offer rest stops and refreshments, and the gentle grade makes long-distance travel comfortable. This is Mississippi’s premier rail-trail for extended outings.
