About This Trail
This heavily used segment of the Longleaf Trace extends from Hattiesburg into the surrounding pine forest, transitioning from urban neighborhoods to rural scenery. The paved surface attracts walkers, runners, and cyclists, while shade from mature trees provides comfort on warm days. This is the most accessible segment of the longer trail.
Getting There
From downtown Hattiesburg, the segment begins at the Southern Avenue trailhead near the University of Southern Mississippi. Parking is available at the trailhead.
