About This Trail
Manatee Springs State Park protects a first-magnitude spring that flows directly into the Suwannee River, creating one of Florida’s premier manatee viewing locations during winter months. The trail system explores diverse habitats from the spring run to hardwood hammocks and the scenic Suwannee River corridor. The North End Trail follows the river through forests draped in Spanish moss, while the main spring area provides opportunities to snorkel in the crystal-clear 72-degree water alongside fish and turtles. Winter brings West Indian manatees seeking the warm spring water, and the park provides elevated viewing platforms for observing these gentle giants. The combination of accessible manatee viewing, excellent hiking, and the historic Suwannee River creates an unforgettable Florida experience.
