About This Trail
This trail segment crosses a preserved patch of blackland prairie, a rare ecosystem that once covered vast areas of the South. The open, treeless landscape supports distinctive wildflowers and grasses that bloom prolifically in spring and fall. Interpretive signs explain this vanishing ecosystem and the efforts to preserve it.
Getting There
From Tupelo, take the Natchez Trace Parkway south to milepost 263. The Blackland Prairie parking area is on the east side of the Parkway with direct trail access.
