North Bend Rail Trail
Premier rail-trail with tunnels through north-central West Virginia.
About This Trail
The North Bend Rail Trail stretches 72 miles through north-central West Virginia, following the route of the former Baltimore & Ohio Railroad. The trail passes through 10 tunnels, including the spectacular 2,297-foot Silver Run Tunnel, and over 36 bridges. The crushed limestone surface provides easy walking and biking through rural countryside, small towns, and forested valleys. Historic railway structures, including stations and tunnel portals, add architectural interest. The trail connects several state parks and provides access to the North Bend State Park. This premier rail-trail offers one of the finest long-distance trail experiences in the eastern United States.
