About This Trail
The North-South Trail traverses the entire length of the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, stretching over 65 miles from the Kentucky border to the Tennessee border. This challenging long-distance trail passes through diverse habitats including hardwood forests, pine plantations, and lakeside areas. The trail crosses numerous streams and traverses rolling hills throughout its length. Backpackers can complete the entire trail over several days, while day hikers can access shorter segments from various trailheads. The trail provides an immersive experience in one of the largest forested areas in the eastern United States.
