About This Trail
This loop trail explores the pine-covered hills characteristic of western Louisiana’s border country, with enough elevation change to provide an invigorating walk. The fragrant forest offers shade on hot days, and the relative quiet makes this a good trail for birding and wildlife observation. The loop can be combined with the Overlook Trail for a longer outing.
Getting There
From North Toledo Bend State Park's main camping area, locate the Piney Loop trailhead near campsite 25. The loop heads into the forest and returns to the campground via a different route.
