About This Trail
Traversing some of Louisiana’s hilliest terrain, this trail climbs through fragrant pine forests to overlooks of massive Toledo Bend Reservoir, the largest man-made lake in the South. The rolling topography provides an unexpectedly vigorous workout while offering excellent birding opportunities, particularly for migrants and pine-specialist species. The trail connects to the park’s interpretive center, which explains the ecology and history of this border region.
Getting There
From Zwolle, take LA-191 west for approximately 15 miles to North Toledo Bend State Park. The main trailhead is located at the park's day-use area, with parking near the lake overlook pavilion.
