About This Trail

Challenging three-mile ridge trail through Chief Logan State Park’s 4,000-acre forested mountains in Logan County. Narrow tread along the backbone ridge can be overgrown in summer before leveling off at trail junctions. Part of an extensive 21-mile system offering 12 trails through southwestern West Virginia’s Hatfield-McCoy country.

Getting There

From Logan, take WV-10 east to Chief Logan State Park. The Old Backbone Trail is accessible from the park's trail system near the campground and picnic areas.
