About This Trail
This short interpretive trail winds through dense stands of saw palmetto, a subtropical plant community more commonly associated with Florida than Louisiana. Informative signs identify native plants and explain the unique ecology of this coastal habitat. The shaded path is perfect for a quick nature walk, even during Louisiana’s hot summers.
Getting There
From Palmetto Island State Park entrance, follow the main park road to the nature center parking area. The trail begins behind the nature center building.
