About This Trail

A 2-mile coastal route at Popham Beach State Park at the mouth of the Kennebec River, crossing wide sandy shores, shifting sandbars exposed at low tide, and dune-grass habitat. The trail offers views of offshore Fox and Seguin islands, the historic Popham Colony site from 1607, and dramatic tidal changes on one of Maine’s finest sand beaches.
