About This Trail

Geologic loop at Grayson Lake State Park circling sandstone canyon overlooks carved by the Little Sandy River in eastern Kentucky. Interpretive signage explains the region’s unique rock formations and mining heritage. Connects to Lick Falls Loop for views of seasonal waterfalls dropping into the forested gorge below.

Getting There

From Olive Hill, take I-64 to Exit 161, then turn onto KY-182 south. Follow signs to Carter Caves State Resort Park. The Prospector-Geology-Overlook Loop begins near the park's main trail system.
