About This Trail

Rabun Bald rises to 4,696 feet, making it Georgia’s second-highest summit and offering equally impressive views from its wooden observation platform. The trail climbs steadily through a lush forest of northern hardwoods, passing groves of flame azaleas that blaze orange in late spring and carpets of wildflowers throughout the growing season. Near the summit, the forest transitions to a windswept landscape of gnarled oaks and mountain laurel before emerging at the observation deck. The platform provides 360-degree views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, including looks into North and South Carolina. Though less crowded than Brasstown Bald, Rabun Bald delivers an equally rewarding summit experience for those willing to make the climb.
