About This Trail
Rainbow Springs State Park protects one of Florida’s largest natural springs, producing 400-600 million gallons of crystal-clear water daily. The trail system winds through lush gardens planted with thousands of azaleas that create spectacular spring displays, past waterfalls fed by the spring run, and through diverse habitats including hardwood hammocks and pine flatwoods. The springs themselves create a natural swimming area where visitors can float in the remarkably clear, 72-degree water year-round. Historic features from the park’s days as a private attraction add interest, while the surrounding forests support abundant wildlife including deer, otters, and numerous bird species. This is one of Florida’s most beautiful state parks, offering something for everyone.
