About This Trail

Red Bluff showcases one of Mississippi’s most dramatic geological features, where erosion has carved deep gullies into colorful red, orange, and cream-colored clay bluffs overlooking the Pearl River. The short but steep trail descends to viewpoints where the layered colors create a landscape unlike anywhere else in the state. Photography is exceptional in morning and afternoon light when the colors glow most intensely. The relative obscurity of this site means solitude is common even on weekends.
