About This Trail
Rock Creek Falls Trail leads hikers through the Unaka Mountain Wilderness to a beautiful two-tiered waterfall on Rock Creek. The upper falls drops about 30 feet over a rock ledge, while the lower falls cascades another 20 feet into a large pool. The trail follows an old logging road before narrowing to a footpath through dense forest. Hemlocks and rhododendrons line the streambanks, and the wilderness character provides a remote feeling despite the relatively short distance. The pool at the base of the lower falls is popular for swimming, and the surrounding rocks provide excellent spots for picnicking. This is one of the most accessible waterfalls in the Cherokee National Forest.
