About This Trail
Rock House Cave preserves prehistoric Native American rock art within a massive bluff shelter that once provided shelter for ancient peoples. The short walk leads to a protected viewing area where pictographs painted on the cave ceiling remain visible after hundreds of years. Interpretive signs explain the cultural significance and history of this archaeological site. The easy access and fascinating history make this a must-see addition to any Petit Jean visit.
Getting There
From Petit Jean State Park visitor center, follow Red Bluff Drive west approximately 1 mile to the Rock House Cave parking area on the right. The short trail leads directly to the cave shelter and viewing platform.
