About This Trail
A true backcountry adventure, the Rough Trail traverses the heart of the Red River Gorge. The trail lives up to its name with steep climbs, rock scrambles, and primitive conditions. It passes Gray’s Arch, crosses Pinch-Em-Tight Ridge, and visits the historic D. Boon Hut. Most hikers tackle it as an overnight trip, camping at established sites along the way.
Getting There
The Rough Trail can be accessed from multiple trailheads including Gray's Arch and Chimney Top Rock. Check with the Forest Service for current conditions.
