About This Trail
Winding through one of Kisatchie’s most geologically interesting areas, this trail showcases weathered sandstone formations, small caves, and dramatic ravines carved over millennia. Spring brings an abundance of wildflowers including trillium and wild orchids, while the varied terrain of gentle slopes and rocky outcrops provides an engaging moderate hike. The trail is especially photogenic after rain when the sandstone colors deepen.
Getting There
From Natchitoches, take LA-6 west approximately 15 miles to Forest Road 345. Turn south and continue 2 miles to the Sandstone Trailhead parking area on the right. The gravel access road is suitable for all vehicles.
