About This Trail
This loop extends from the main Sandstone Trail to explore additional geological formations in the southern portion of the area. Weathered sandstone outcrops, small overhangs, and deeply cut ravines provide an adventurous moderate hike through terrain that feels far removed from typical Louisiana landscapes.
Getting There
From the main Sandstone Trailhead on Forest Road 345, hike the primary trail approximately 2 miles to the signed junction for the South Loop. Alternatively, access directly via Forest Road 347 to a small parking pullout at the southern trailhead.
