About This Trail
The Sheltowee Trace-Bison Way Loop combines sections of the 343-mile Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail with connector trails through the Daniel Boone National Forest. The loop passes through diverse habitats including ridgetop forests, stream valleys, and wildlife management areas where bison once roamed. The trail offers excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing, including deer, wild turkey, and various songbirds. Several creek crossings and moderate elevation changes add variety to the hike. This loop provides a representative sample of the Sheltowee Trace experience without committing to the full long-distance trail.
