About This Trail

Silver Springs State Park encompasses the world-famous springs that launched Florida’s tourism industry in the 1870s, along with miles of trails through diverse Central Florida habitats. The springs produce over 500 million gallons of crystal-clear water daily, creating one of the largest artesian spring formations in the world. Hiking trails wind through longleaf pine sandhills, hardwood hammocks, and along the Silver River where you might spot the park’s famous rhesus macaque monkeys—descendants of animals released during filming in the 1930s. Glass-bottom boat tours reveal the springs’ underwater wonderland, while the trails offer excellent wildlife viewing including manatees in winter, alligators, and numerous wading birds.
