About This Trail

South Fork Citico Creek Trail provides access to the southern portion of the Citico Creek Wilderness, following the beautiful South Fork through diverse forest habitats. The trail traverses rich cove forest with impressive trees, crosses multiple tributaries, and provides access to remote camping areas. Wildlife is abundant in this protected wilderness, including black bear, wild boar, and numerous bird species. The stream offers excellent trout fishing in its clear, cold waters. This trail connects with other routes to create extended wilderness loops through some of the most remote terrain in the Cherokee National Forest.
