About This Trail

High Shoals Falls is an impressive 80-foot waterfall in South Mountains State Park. The trail follows Jacob Fork River through a forested gorge, passing several smaller cascades before reaching the main falls.

From Morganton, NC, take NC-18 south. Turn right onto Sugar Loaf Road, then left onto South Mountains Park Avenue. Follow to the park entrance.
