About This Trail
Sprewell Bluff Park along the Flint River offers one of Georgia’s most underrated hiking experiences, with trails exploring a dramatic river gorge carved through Georgia’s Fall Line. The paths descend steep bluffs to reach the river’s edge, where Class II-III rapids create a soundtrack of rushing water and swimmers cool off in deep pools during summer months. The diverse habitats support abundant wildlife, while the relatively remote location ensures a peaceful experience even on busy weekends. Historic sites along the trail include remnants of an old mill and bridge abutments from earlier eras. The steep terrain requires good fitness, but the rewards—river scenery rivaling north Georgia’s best—make the effort worthwhile.
