About This Trail
A short preserve hike to the hand-carved 235-foot Shepaug Valley Railroad tunnel, blasted through solid rock in just nine months in 1871-72. The trail follows the Shepaug River through Washington’s Steep Rock Preserve, with winter ice formations decorating the tunnel ceiling.
