About This Trail
Stumphouse Tunnel is an unfinished railroad tunnel begun in the 1850s and abandoned when the Civil War began. The 1,617-foot tunnel maintains a constant 50-degree temperature and was once used by Clemson University to age blue cheese. A short trail leads into the tunnel.
Getting There
From Walhalla, SC, take SC-28 north. The Stumphouse Tunnel parking area is adjacent to Issaqueena Falls.
