About This Trail
This gentle trail encircles a portion of Caney Lake through fragrant pine woodlands and sunny meadows that burst with wildflowers in spring and early summer. The flat, well-maintained path is perfect for families with young children or anyone seeking a relaxed nature walk. Benches along the route offer peaceful spots to enjoy lake views, and numerous fishing access points make it easy to combine hiking with angling.
Getting There
From Minden, take US-80 east to LA-159 south. Follow LA-159 for approximately 12 miles to Caney Lakes Recreation Area. Turn right at the recreation area entrance and follow signs to the Sugar Cane Trail parking lot near the boat launch.
