About This Trail

Temple Hill Trail climbs from the Nolichucky River Valley to the summit of Temple Hill, offering outstanding views of the Nolichucky Gorge and surrounding mountains. The trail ascends through oak-hickory forest, passing rock outcrops and wildflower-filled clearings before reaching the ridgetop. The Nolichucky River Corridor is renowned for its dramatic scenery, and this trail provides one of the best vantage points for appreciating the deep gorge carved through the mountains. The trail connects to other routes in the area, allowing for extended explorations. Fall foliage is spectacular when the hardwood forest blazes with color against the dark backdrop of the river gorge.
