About This Trail

Wade Mountain Nature Preserve protects a forested mountain ridge on the outskirts of Huntsville, offering trails through diverse habitats from rocky outcrops to stream valleys. The loop trail climbs through mixed hardwood forest to ridgetop viewpoints overlooking the growing city and surrounding mountains. The preserve’s varied terrain supports an impressive diversity of plant life, including spring wildflowers, ferns, and native orchids in season. Rock formations along the ridge provide interesting geological features, while the forest hosts numerous bird species throughout the year.
