About This Trail

Whittleton Arch Trail leads to a beautiful sandstone arch tucked into the forested hillside of Natural Bridge State Resort Park. The trail follows Whittleton Creek upstream through a scenic valley, passing through hemlock groves and rhododendron thickets before climbing to the arch. The secluded setting and moderate difficulty make this a pleasant alternative to the crowded main Natural Bridge trail. The arch spans approximately 30 feet and provides an excellent example of the geological processes that created the region’s famous rock formations. Spring wildflowers and fall foliage make this trail especially scenic in those seasons.
