About This Trail
This segment of the Wild Azalea Trail passes through areas historically used for Boy Scout camping, with established campsites and a moderately challenging route through mixed pine and hardwood forest. The azaleas bloom spectacularly here in spring, and the campsites make this section popular for overnight backpacking trips with youth groups.
Getting There
From Alexandria, take US-165 south to Forest Road 273. Turn west and continue approximately 4 miles to the Boy Scout segment trailhead, marked with Wild Azalea Trail signs.
