About This Trail
This scenic segment of the Wild Azalea Trail passes near Valentine Lake through groves of wild azaleas that explode in pink and white blooms each spring. The trail winds through mixed pine and hardwood forest with occasional views of the lake through the trees. This section offers moderate terrain with gentle hills and is accessible as a day hike without committing to the full trail length.
Getting There
From Alexandria, take LA-28 west to LA-121 south. Continue approximately 8 miles to Valentine Lake Recreation Area. Turn left at the recreation area entrance and follow signs to the Wild Azalea Trail access point at the far end of the campground.
