About This Trail

Broad River Trail is a pleasant 4.1-mile out-and-back hike in Stephens County, Georgia, that follows Dicks Creek before winding through the forest toward the Broad River. The first mile along Dicks Creek features a charming small waterfall and offers opportunities to observe the diverse tree species of the Southern Appalachians. After leaving the creek, the trail continues through a mixed hardwood forest with gentle terrain suitable for hikers of moderate fitness. The path passes through areas of mountain laurel and rhododendron that bloom beautifully in late spring. Wildlife sightings are common, including deer, wild turkeys, and various songbirds. The forest showcases impressive specimens of oak, hickory, poplar, and pine. This peaceful trail provides a good introduction to hiking in the North Georgia mountains without extreme elevation changes.
