About This Trail
Tallulah Gorge North Rim Trail is an easy 0.6-mile path along the northern edge of spectacular Tallulah Gorge in Rabun County, Georgia, offering multiple stunning overlooks without strenuous hiking. Each viewing platform provides a different perspective on this nearly 1,000-foot deep gorge, revealing features including Oceana Falls, Hawthorne Pool, and the historic dam. The well-maintained trail connects a series of overlooks with gentle grades suitable for visitors of all ages and abilities. The gorge’s sheer walls and multiple waterfalls create some of the most dramatic scenery in the Eastern United States. The trail is especially impressive during controlled water releases when the falls run at full volume. Interpretive signs explain the geological and human history of this natural wonder. For those seeking more adventure, permits are available to hike into the gorge floor itself.
