Perched above Watauga Lake at nearly 2,000 feet in Cherokee National Forest, this trail offers bluff views over the 6,430-acre reservoir in Carter County. Big Laurel Branch and Pond Mountain Wilderness areas border the campground, providing access to more rugged backcountry hiking.

Getting There

From Hampton, take US-321/67 north approximately 4 miles. Turn left into the Cardens Bluff area. Park at the gate and walk into the campground, staying right at the fork to the marked trailhead.
