Explore 16 miles of oversand routes through the Coskata-Coatue Wildlife Refuge, a barrier beach system with salt marshes, dune habitats, and miles of pristine shoreline. Great egrets, ospreys, and American oystercatchers frequent this remote stretch, reachable by foot from Wauwinet on Nantucket’s northeast tip.

Getting There

From Nantucket town, take Polpis Road approximately 4.5 miles east, then turn left onto Wauwinet Road. Continue to the Gatehouse at 111 Wauwinet Road for access to the Coskata-Coatue Wildlife Refuge trails.
