About This Trail

Following the historic 1880s Tweetsie narrow-gauge railroad grade, this route passes through two rock tunnels and over trestle remnants along the Doe River. Towering cliffs and gorge walls rise steeply above the rushing water below.

Getting There

From Elizabethton, take US-19E south toward Roan Mountain. Turn onto Doe River Gorge Road and follow it to the gorge area. The trail follows the scenic Doe River Gorge near Hampton.
