About This Trail
A 2.3-mile island trail crossing the North Shore Alvar, Ohio’s only undisturbed alvar community, a rare limestone pavement habitat found on this Lake Erie island. The route passes rocky lakeshore, glacial grooves up to 15 feet deep that are among the world’s largest, and wooded interior sections accessible only by ferry from Marblehead.
