About This Trail

Challenging 2.2-mile singletrack climbing steadily through Cherokee National Forest’s Holston Mountain backcountry with frequent switchbacks. Open to hikers and equestrians, the trail follows an old mountain grade with adequate footing despite the continuous elevation gain. Creek crossings punctuate the forested ascent.

Getting There

From Shelbyville, take TN-64 south toward Lynchburg. The Morrell Trail is located in the Henry Horton State Park area of middle Tennessee. Follow park signs to the trailhead parking.
