About This Trail

Quick, well-maintained access to Maryland’s highest free-falling waterfall at 53 feet in Swallow Falls State Park. Stairs and observation platforms provide excellent vantage points surrounded by old-growth hemlock and white pine forest in Garrett County.

Getting There

From Oakland, take US-219 south about 19 miles. Turn right onto Mayhew Inn Road, continue 4.3 miles, then slight left onto Oakland-Sang Run Road. Turn right onto Swallow Falls Road and follow signs to Swallow Falls State Park.
