About This Trail

Following the 1780 route of Patriot militia crossing Yellow Mountain Gap during the Kings Mountain campaign, this trail climbs through hardwood coves and rhododendron corridors in the Roan Highlands. Clear streams, wooden bridges, and open pasture views connect to the Appalachian Trail. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Getting There

From Elizabethton, Tennessee, take TN-143 south toward Roan Mountain. The Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail follows the historic route across the mountains and can be accessed from various points along TN-143.
