About This Trail

Nine-mile dual-use trail for hikers and horseback riders in Cherokee National Forest’s Paint Creek corridor near Greeneville. Alternating between old logging roads and narrow singletrack, the route follows the mountain’s spine through mixed hardwood forest. Winter reveals broader views, while spring brings wildflowers along the creek approaches.

Getting There

From Erwin, Tennessee, take I-26 east toward the North Carolina border. The Paint Mountain Trail is accessible from the Appalachian Trail corridor near the Nolichucky River, off the Sam's Gap area.
