About This Trail

Short interpretive loop opposite Horse Creek Recreation Area in the Bald Mountains at 1,720 feet elevation. Named for the scarlet oaks found here, this gentle path introduces visitors to the Cherokee National Forest’s diverse hardwood ecosystem.
