About This Trail

A wide 1.6-mile path climbs to a four-story Romanesque stone tower built by the WPA in the 1930s atop 739-foot Mount Carmel in Hamden. The tower’s observation deck delivers 360-degree views of Long Island Sound, the New Haven skyline, and the surrounding traprock ridgeline.

Getting There

From Hamden, take Mount Carmel Avenue to the Sleeping Giant State Park entrance at 200 Mount Carmel Avenue. The Tower Trail begins from the main parking lot area.
