About This Trail

A short 0.8-mile climb to Summit Peak, the highest point in the Porcupine Mountains at 1,958 feet. A 50-foot observation tower at the top provides panoramic views spanning Lake Superior, the Keweenaw Peninsula, and Wisconsin on clear days. One of the easiest high-reward hikes in Michigan’s western Upper Peninsula.

Getting There

From Ontonagon, take M-64 west to Silver City, then continue on 107th Engineers Memorial Highway. Turn right onto Summit Peak Road and follow it to the parking lot at the end. The loop trail begins here.
