About This Trail

This 2-mile flat nature trail on Thompson Island in Delaware Seashore State Park follows crushed-stone paths along marsh edges where osprey, herons, and horseshoe crabs are frequently spotted. The preserve protects coastal wetland habitat between Rehoboth Bay and the Indian River, offering quiet birding and wildlife viewing away from the busy beach areas.

Getting There

From Rehoboth Beach, head south on Coastal Highway to Dewey Beach. Turn onto Bay Road toward the Spring Lake community. Follow signs to the Thompson Island Trailhead parking between yellow poles.
