About This Trail
Whigg Meadows Trail leads to one of the most spectacular high-elevation meadows in the Cherokee National Forest of Monroe County, Tennessee. The flat, open meadow provides stunning 360-degree panoramic views, with the Tellico District visible to the north and west and the mountains of North Carolina stretching to the east. The grassy expanse is ideal for a family picnic, with the surrounding scenery creating a perfect backdrop. The meadow blooms with wildflowers in late spring and summer, attracting butterflies and various bird species. The relatively easy access and gentle terrain make this a popular destination for visitors of all ages seeking mountain views without strenuous hiking. Fall brings spectacular colors to the surrounding forest, and clear days offer visibility extending for many miles. This unique mountain meadow provides a peaceful retreat from the forested trails typical of the region.
