About This Trail

A 4.3-mile out-and-back hike near Middlebury through the Green Mountain National Forest to a secluded pond where moose are sometimes spotted wading in the shallows. The trail passes Abbey Pond Cascades on the climb and may be seasonally closed to protect nesting great blue herons.

Getting There

From Middlebury, take Route 7 south to Route 125 east, then turn north on Route 116. Drive 4.4 miles and look for the Abbey Pond Trail sign on the right. Turn onto the gravel road and follow it 0.3 miles to trailhead parking.
