Appalachian Trail (Clingmans Dome to Silers Bald)
Portion of the AT offering stunning views
You can find the AT by heading up to the observation tower on Clingmans Dome. When the ramp goes off to the right at the top of the hill, continue straight ahead on the small trail, which is shortly thereafter marked as the AT. Walking to the left will lead you to Silers Bald.
The views from the trail are better than those from the observation tower, so no need to fight through the crowds to see the view from the dome. The portion of the AT to Silers Bald is pretty easy, and is great for photographing the sunset.
